Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw
Hobbs and Shaw versus a cybernetically enhanced Idris Elba. Skippable, and knows it.

Can you skip Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw?
Yes, on a first watch. It is self-contained, and nothing in the main Fast & Furious story depends on it. Come back to it later if you want more. In chronological order, reaching it takes about 14h 10m of essential viewing across 7 titles. Show only the Fast & Furious essentials.
Skippable, and it is the only entry here with no connection to the main plot in either direction. No member of the crew appears, nothing that happens in it is referenced by F9 or Fast X, and the two leads were absent from the main films for separate off-screen reasons.
It is also a different genre. David Leitch directs it as a buddy comedy with superhero elements rather than a car film: the antagonist is a soldier rebuilt with mechanical enhancements who describes himself as the future of the species, and almost nothing in it involves driving. The insults between the two leads were reportedly improvised at length and occupy a large share of the running time.
The last act moves to Samoa, where Hobbs's family make weapons by hand and fight a technologically superior force in the rain, and that sequence is the best thing in it, partly because it is the only part with any stakes attached to a person rather than to a virus.
Idris Elba is enjoying himself and the film is roughly twenty minutes too long. Watch it if you want more of these two characters, and skip it entirely if you are following the story.
