The rest of this site puts a franchise in the order its own story runs. These pages do the same thing to history: a war, an era, a period, and the films that depict it, arranged so that watching them in sequence walks through the events themselves.

Each one is curated rather than exhaustive. A list of every film about a war is a catalogue, and deciding what earns a place is the part worth doing. Each one also ends by saying what cinema never filmed, because a list that only shows what exists implies that what exists is everything.
