EssentialSeries2003
Fifty-one episodes. Faithful at first, then it runs out of manga and goes somewhere considerably bleaker on its own.
Availability changes by country and by week, so this searches JustWatch rather than guessing.
Can you skip Fullmetal Alchemist (2003)?
No. It carries part of the main Fullmetal Alchemist throughline, and what comes after it assumes you have seen it. The next essential title is Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. See the full Fullmetal Alchemist order.
