The film is a continuation
Reze Arc picks up directly from where season one stops and adapts the next arc of the manga. Nothing in it is a retelling, and skipping it means skipping part of the story rather than an optional extra.
It runs 100 minutes and was released in Japan in September 2025.
What season two is
MAPPA has confirmed a second season, subtitled Assassins Arc, adapting the International Assassins arc of the manga. It is in production with no release date.
That arc follows directly from the film, so the running order stays a straight line.
A note on the tone
Season one is very funny for stretches and then abruptly is not. If the first two episodes read as a comedy about a teenager with a chainsaw for a head, that is deliberate, and it does not stay that way.
