If you want to be caught up on DC as it exists now, you do not need the DCEU, the Nolan films, or anything else. You need the DCU — Gunn's reboot, which began in December 2024 and is still short enough to catch up on in a weekend.

The order
Creature Commandos (animated, 2024) formally opens the universe. Superman (2025) is the first film and the real starting point for most people. Peacemaker season 2 follows. Then Supergirl (2026) and Lanterns (2026), which are set around the same time.
Clayface (October 2026) is the odd one — Gunn has confirmed it takes place *before* Superman, making it chronologically first despite releasing fifth.
Can I start with Superman?
Yes, and most people should. Superman (2025) is designed as the entry point: it drops you into a world that already has heroes and explains itself as it goes.
Creature Commandos adds useful context on Amanda Waller and the tone Gunn is going for, but nothing in Superman requires it.
The Peacemaker problem
Peacemaker season 1 is not in this continuity — except that it is. It was produced as a DCEU series, spinning directly out of The Suicide Squad (2021), and when Gunn rebooted everything he kept it canon.
So it is the one piece of the old universe that carries over. Watch it before season 2, and treat The Suicide Squad as optional background rather than required viewing.
What is coming
Man of Tomorrow, the Superman sequel, arrives in July 2027, and The Brave and the Bold will introduce the DCU's Batman with Damian Wayne as Robin — announced but still undated. Creature Commandos returns for a second season in 2027.

Creature Commandos, Superman (2025), Peacemaker season 2, Supergirl, Lanterns, then Clayface — though Clayface is set before Superman chronologically.
Do I need to watch the DCEU before the new DCU?
No. The DCU is a full reboot. The only carryover is Peacemaker season 1, which was made as a DCEU series but kept canon.
Can I start with Superman (2025)?

Where does Clayface fit in the DCU timeline?
