Can you skip Chaos Theory?
Yes, on a first watch. It is self-contained, and nothing in the main Jurassic Park story depends on it. Come back to it later if you want more. Show only the Jurassic Park essentials.
Skippable, and it is the better of the two animated series. It follows the Camp Cretaceous characters as adults in the world Dominion left behind, which makes it a direct sequel to a sequel and means it needs the previous series to land at all.
The pitch is darker than anything else carrying this name. The group has not spoken in years, one of them is dead when it opens, and the surviving members reassemble because somebody is methodically hunting them. It is a conspiracy thriller with dinosaurs in it rather than a dinosaur show, and the first season in particular is willing to be genuinely tense.
It also does the thing the films promised and declined to deliver: it is actually about a world where these animals are loose. There are roadside encounters, containment teams, people making a living from the situation, and an ordinary rural America with something enormous in the treeline. That is the premise Dominion dropped, handled properly in a children's cartoon.
Nothing in the films refers to it and Rebirth proceeds as though none of it happened. Watch it after Camp Cretaceous if those characters landed for you, and skip both if they did not.
