Attack on Titan watch order
One straight line, chopped into parts that aired years apart and are numbered differently everywhere.
Updated 8 August 2026 · 13 titles tracked
Attack on Titan has no ordering puzzle. It runs in a straight line from the first episode to the last, and nothing jumps around.
What it has instead is a numbering problem. Season 3 aired in two parts nine months apart. The Final Season aired in four parts across three years. Streaming services split and label these inconsistently, which is why a show with no reordering has a watch-order question at all.

The order
Seven broadcast blocks, in this sequence, and you are done.
- Season 1, 25 episodes (2013)
- Season 2, 12 episodes (2017)
- Season 3 Part 1, 12 episodes (2018)
- Season 3 Part 2: 10 episodes (2019)
- The Final Season Part 1, 16 episodes (2020–21)
- The Final Season Part 2, 12 episodes (2022)
- The Final Season Parts 3 and 4. Two feature-length specials (2023)
The Last Attack is not a sequel
It is a theatrical cut of the final two specials, released in 2024. If you watch Parts 3 and 4 as they aired, you do not need it. If you would rather see the ending in one sitting in a cinema-length cut, watch it instead of them.
Watching both means watching the ending twice.
Skip the recap films
Crimson Bow and Arrow, Wings of Freedom and The Roar of Awakening compress seasons you have already watched. They add nothing.
Chronicle (2020) recaps all three seasons in one film. It has one genuine use: a refresher before the Final Season, if the four-year gap has cost you the plot.
The season that changes the show
Season 3 Part 2 is where the premise turns out to have been hiding a much bigger one. Everything before it is a monster story; everything after is not.
It is worth knowing that this exists, because Season 3 Part 1 has a reputation for being slow and a lot of people stop there. Immediately before the payoff.
Common questions
What order should I watch Attack on Titan in?
Season 1, Season 2, Season 3 Part 1, Season 3 Part 2, then The Final Season Parts 1 to 4. It is entirely sequential. The difficulty is only in how the parts are labelled.
Do I need to watch The Last Attack?
Only if you skip the Final Season Parts 3 and 4. It is a theatrical cut of the same material, not a continuation.
Are the Attack on Titan compilation films worth watching?
No. They recap episodes you have already seen and add nothing. Chronicle has one use; a refresher before the Final Season.
How many episodes is Attack on Titan?
94 in total across four seasons: 25, 12, 22 and 35.
