Can you skip The Mandalorian (Season 3)?
No. It carries part of the main Star Wars throughline, and what comes after it assumes you have seen it. The next essential title is Ahsoka. See the full Star Wars order.
Essential on continuity and the weakest of the three seasons. It opens assuming you have watched two episodes of The Book of Boba Fett, which is a genuinely poor piece of housekeeping: the protagonist's circumstances changed in another programme and this one does not explain it.
The season's problem is focus. It splits between Din Djarin's pilgrimage to a ruined homeworld, a political plot about Mandalorian factions, a subplot about a New Republic amnesty programme for former Imperials, and a long sequence following a droid on a terraformed planet. Several of those are interesting and none of them is the spine.
What works is the world-building about Mandalore itself, which had been a background noun for forty years and is here a bombed-out surface with a surviving underground, and Katee Sackhoff's Bo-Katan, who carries most of the season's actual arc and has the better claim to being its lead. The episode on Plazir-15 is a genuinely good detective story.
The child is now a passenger rather than a premise, and the first season's restraint is gone. Watch it for the continuity and expect less than the second season gave you.
