Can you skip Black Adam?
Yes, on a first watch. It is self-contained, and nothing in the main DC story depends on it. What it does leave behind is one scene during the credits. In chronological order, reaching it takes about 32h 21m of essential viewing across 15 titles. Show only the DC essentials.
Skippable, and it is the DCEU's clearest example of a film built around a campaign rather than a story. It was promoted for years on the claim that it would change the hierarchy of power in the universe, and it arrived weeks before new management set that universe aside entirely.
The film itself is a grim origin for a character whose appeal is that he does not care, placed in a fictional occupied country and surrounded by a team nobody has met. The Justice Society is introduced in this film, given four members, costumes and no shared history, and asked to carry the moral argument against the lead.
There are good pieces. Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate is the most interesting thing in it, a man who can see his own death and proceeds anyway, and Aldis Hodge's Hawkman has presence. The slow-motion is used so heavily in the first act that it becomes a tic.
The post-credits scene, promising a confrontation that was cancelled within weeks of release when the studio changed direction, is the most dated thirty seconds in the catalogue. Nothing in the DCU follows from any of it.
