Nothing connects, including the trilogy. The Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy — Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End — shares a cast, a writing partner in Simon Pegg, and a running joke about a Cornetto wrapper. It shares no story at all.
Watch them in that order anyway. They get steadily better written and steadily sadder, and the progression is the point.

Start with Shaun of the Dead
A zombie outbreak happens to a man who is too busy failing at his relationship to notice it starting. The first act is a comedy about arrested development that happens to have the apocalypse in the background, and the joke is that the character cannot tell the difference.
Then Hot Fuzz (2007), which spends ninety minutes parodying action films and then, in its final act, simply becomes an extremely good one.
The World's End is the best written
It is also the least funny of the three, and that is deliberate. A pub crawl reunion where the central character is an alcoholic who peaked at seventeen, and everyone else has moved on. The alien invasion is almost incidental.
Watch it third. It plays as a punchline to the other two.
The rhythm films
Baby Driver (2017) cut every action beat to a soundtrack chosen years in advance — the music was locked before shooting, and the choreography follows it. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010) adapts a comic as if it were a video game, flopped hard, and then refused to disappear.
Either works as an entry point if British sitcom-adjacent comedy is not your thing.
The later two
Last Night in Soho (2021) is a 1960s psychological horror and his first film with no comedy in it at all. The Running Man (2025) adapts the Stephen King novel much more closely than the 1987 Schwarzenegger version did.
Neither is where to start, but both are more interesting than their receptions suggested.
The one you will not find
A Fistful of Fingers (1995) is a western parody he shot on 16mm for under a thousand pounds at twenty. It exists, it is hard to see legally, and it is a curiosity rather than a film.
