Can you skip What If...? (Season 2)?
Yes, on a first watch. It is self-contained, and nothing in the main MCU story depends on it. Come back to it later if you want more. In chronological order, reaching it takes about 55h 59m of essential viewing across 32 titles. Show only the MCU essentials.
Skippable, and it is an anthology like the first season, so the same advice applies: pick episodes. Nothing in the films requires it.
It is a more consistent season than the first and has a lower ceiling. The weaker instalments are fewer, the animation is better, and the writing is more confident about treating each premise as a complete short film rather than a costume change.
The strongest are the 1980s Hulk episode, which plays as a Spielberg pastiche, and the Nebula episode, a cyberpunk detective story that is the best single thing either season produced. The Christmas episode is a genuine oddity and works.
It was released as a daily series over the week of Christmas, which gave it almost no attention, and the season-long thread tying the episodes together is thinner than the first's. Four of the nine are worth an evening.
