What If...? (Season 3)

Skippable, and it is the last season, released over eight days at Christmas the way the second was. Nothing in the films depends on any of it.

It is the most experimental of the three and the most uneven. One episode is a 1950s-style musical, one is told almost entirely through a single continuous camera move, and one abandons the anthology format to resolve the Watcher's own three-season arc. When the swings land they are the best things the series did; when they do not, the half-hour runtime leaves nowhere to hide.

The Captain Peggy Carter material, which has run through all three seasons, is given a conclusion, and the Watcher is finally made a character rather than a narrator. Both are reasonable endings to threads that were never the reason anybody watched.

As with the earlier seasons, the right approach is to read a summary and pick three. The series was Marvel Animation's first project and its ambition always exceeded its half-hour budget.
